Extra, Extra! Read All About It!
Readers!
Have you found it highly inconvenient to find out if there is a newly published Median Duck post? If yes, then fear no more!1
You can now be e-mailed as to when a new post has been published. Simply use the RSS feed information associated with this site, and use feedrabbit.com to be e-mailed as to when there is a new post. Other RSS feed e-mailers are available (follow.it, blogtrottr).
Signing up can be achieved in 2 simple steps! 2
- Choose your preferred RSS feed e-mailer platform: feedrabbit.com, follow.it or blogtrottr.
- Signing up to these services may be required.
- In the “URL of a feed or web site” input field (or similarly labelled), provide the following address: https://bluevolvo87.github.io/themedianduck/index.xml.
Or you can use this Little (Alex Horne) Hack
Some considerations:
- Additional steps to sign up and confirm usage of these RSS feed e-mailers may be required.
- By going with a external third party RSS e-mailer, The Median Duck does not have access to your e-mail address or personal information that you provided.
- This is great for readers who do not want to share their details with a mysterious blog poster who has questionable stats, writing and musical skills.
- These dedicated third party e-mailers also allow for the reader to control the frequency in which they receive e-mails.
- The reader can control how frequently they are spammed, and confounded by the contents featured on this blog.

Be the First to Say “First!”
Readers!
Have you ever wanted to:
- interact with the writer of The Median Duck, but still remain safely anonymous?
- interact with rest of The Median Duck community (henceforth known as “The Flock”)?
- share your opinion on a Median Duck post?
- point out incoherent (and correct) English that frequently occurs on this blog?
- violently object to a statistical method or conclusion that is being stated?
- add a redundant “First!” comment on a Median Duck post?
…then look no further! Commenting on posts has now been enabled for The Median Duck.
Thanks to cusdis, a “lightweight, privacy-first, open-source comment system”, all posts now have a comment section at the very bottom of the page.
Figure 3: How I anticipate the comment section to progress over time.

Some considerations:
- No additional sign up is required to yet another third party website.
- The Median Duck doesn’t store any private information on the commenter.
- You (the reader) can stay anonymous behind the safety of your own screen!
- Trolls and spammers can also rejoice at the low barrier of commenting entry.
- Comments will be vetted and reviewed by the webmaster:
- Readers can no doubt expect some biased comment selection here.

The following resources were incredibly useful in enabling this commenting feature:
What Have We Learnt Today?
Figure 5: The seal of approval from the Little man himself.

We’ve learnt:
- How to never miss out on a Median Duck post!
- Readers have been instructed on how to get e-mailed on latest post via an RSS feed.
- A commenting feature has been enabled on The Median Duck!
- Readers can now object to the content being posted, and provide redundant comments such as “First!”, or “Come to Brazil!!!!”.
- The Median Duck is not interested in readers’ personal information and respects their privacy!
- The Median Duck is also a lazy cheapskate, favouring (free) open source third party platforms, and making his readers do all the work in terms of subscribing to a feed.
- The Median Duck community is henceforth known as The Flock.
